Abstract:   (130 Views)
Background and Objective:
Perceived social support (financial, educational, rehabilitation, etc.) increases the general health and self-efficacy of the elderly. Vice versa, reduced mobility and physical activity in the elderly leads to loss of independence and autonomy. The main purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between physical activity and perceived social support with self-efficacy and general health in the elderly with systolic heart failure.
Materials and Methods:
The method of the present study is descriptive and correlational. The statistical population of this study consists of all the elderly who referred to the Education Retirees Center at Tehran 1399.A total of 250 elderly patients with systolic heart failure were selected by random sampling. The data collection tools in this study are General Health Questionnaire (GHQ), Self-Efficacy Questionnaire (GSES), Perceived Social Support Questionnaire (SSPQ) and Physical Activity Questionnaire (FAQ). The research data were analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficient and SPSS-23 statistical software.
Results:
The results showed that physical activity factors and perceived social support have 33% ability to predict self-efficacy; Also, physical activity and perceived social support can explain 48% of changes in the general health variable. There is also a significant positive relationship between physical activity and general health in the elderly (P <0.05). This means that with increasing physical activity, the general health of the elderly increases.
Conclusion:
Social support is recognized as the strongest and most powerful coping force for the successful confrontation of the elderly with diseases and stressful conditions. Improving the level of physical activity in the elderly leads to an increase in quality of life and general health in the elderly.
